WHAT: At 11am, around 300 supporters of Children’s Hospice South West will put on their FREE Santa suits and join together in this 2km fun run in aid of Children’s Hospice South West. At the start/finish there will be a selection of stalls selling delicious festive refreshments for everyone to enjoy and each participant will also receive a fantastic goody bag to take home with them as a memento of the fun day.
This year sleigh-loads of Santas will be rocking around the Christmas tree in a national series of fun runs, all in aid of children’s hospices.
Santas on the Run, sponsored by Foresters, an international financial and charitable organisation, is a series of fun runs in Santa costume which sees Children’s Hospices UK and children’s hospices throughout the country working together to raise awareness and much needed funds.
There are 18 events taking place across the country. The event in London on Thursday 3 December will see hundreds of people dressed as Santa running or walking the 2km route along the Southbank. There are two races taking place: the first starts at 6.45pm and second begins at 7.20pm. The money raised from the London event will benefit children’s hospices in the London area including: Demelza hospice care for children, Haven House Children’s Hospice, Richard House Children’s Hospice and The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice.
Ray Winstone, actor and patron of Haven House Children’s Hospice in Essex is championing the national series and is encouraging people to take part in their local festive fun run: "I am delighted to support Santas on the Run. This fun event will help children's hospices across the UK to raise awareness and vital funds for the work that they do with life-limited children and their families. Thousands of Santas up and down the country took to the race track last Christmas, raising £135,000 for children’s hospice services.

Foresters and its members throughout the UK supported the national series of Santas on the Run events organised by children’s hospices across the country. The events raised much needed funds to ensure children and young people who are not expected to reach adulthood and their families receive the care and support they need.

Santas on the Run raises sleigh-loads for children's hospices
Thousands of Santas up and down the country took to the race track this year in a national series of fun runs, all in aid of children’s hospices.

The event raised much needed funds for children and young people who are not expected to reach adulthood and their families to have the care and support they need this Christmas.

England and Somerset cricket star, Marcus Trescothick this week urges Bristolians to run out and raise money for local children’s hospice services this Christmas. Santas on the Run, a festive fun run in aid of Children’s Hospice South West, takes place this Sunday (7 December) in Castle Park, Bristol.
Marcus Trescothick, said: “Being a supporter of Children’s Hospice South West I have been fortunate enough to meet the families, children and young people who use the hospice service. Team England and Chelsea football star, Frank Lampard this week urges Londoners to swap their shirts for Santa suits and raise money for children’s hospices this Christmas. Santas on the Run, a festive fun run in aid of children’s hospices, takes place this Saturday (29 November) in Kensington Gardens.
